Design Ignites Change - Projects

No one wins in a pillow fight, nor do they in a "hate" crime. This idea is designed to serve the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) community, but everyone will be encouraged to participate. It is a series of events to raise money for non-profit organizations that provide victim services for survivors of bias (or “hate”) crimes. These events feature “silly” acts that mimick violence, like a pillow fight, that not only calls attention to the ridiculous nature of hate crime, but how anti-productive they are. This allows a unique community building, charity based event to occur.

The LGBTQ community is often ignored by lawmakers and public funding, resulting in second class citizenship for the LGBTQ community. The organizations that aid this group, in times of crisis, (bias crime survivors/domestic abuse) are by and large grossly underfunded and rely on private donations to stay afloat.

No One Wins is a fun way to draw attention to the ridiculous nature of hate crimes, and raise funds for the organizations that support this virtue. Instead of ignoring the elephant in the room, the entire community will be invited to put it out in the open in the most non-confrontational way possible: a pillow fight.
