Stormwater runoff is the number one cause of water pollution in the country. Polluted runoff happens anywhere people use or alter the land. People going about their daily lives are the leading source of stormwater pollutants. Most people are unaware of how they impact water quality. Using guerilla design, a system is being designed to educate our neighbors in Kansas City about simple and easy ways to help prevent water pollution, both individually and as a community. The case study is specific to the Southmoreland neighborhood, where the institute is located. This system provides information and tools to encourage people to protect our water

700 residents will receive a package educating them about the issues of stormwater run off and what they, as a home owner can do to help prevent water pollution.

Inside the first of three packages contains two seed balls – one for their usage and one to plant in the community.

A tag you cut out will be placed with the seed ball planted in the community, to help spread the word.

Stormwater runoff is a major problem in almost every city and most cities are doing what they can to help clean the water. While the government make plans and raise money that take years to achieve, residents are unaware of what they can do. People going about their daily lives are the number one source of runoff pollution.

Preventing pollution from entering our streams is much more affordable than cleaning polluted water. Which is why I created a series of packages containing information/tools to help prevent water pollution in simple/easy ways. Additionally, tagging areas where larger amount of the city sees, like storm drain sewers.
