The goal of this 2009 Designmtters trans-disciplinary studio was to conceive and develop a multi-component branding and communications strategy for the Organization of American States (OAS) Centennial in 2010. Led by the Graphic Design and Film Departments, Art Center, the class focused on the development of an integrated multimedia campaign that would receive extensive international visibility during the 2010 celebration. The class was challenged to create a campaign that would not only pay tribute to the OAS legacy and its core values, but would also visualize and propel a far-reaching forward lens: in other words, help target audiences to imagine the significance of the OAS during the next 100 years, and reaffirm its importance.

The class created a new identity and core message for the organization – “On Common Ground,” which espouses the organization’s goals of democracy, human rights, security and development. The outcome of the class included a Public Service Announcement, a new visual identity for the OAS Centennial events and a new website.
