Design Ignites Change - Projects - Her Ideas in Motion

Her Ideas in Motion is a media arts and technology program aimed at girls providing an opportunity for hands-on learning, self-expression and exploration of non-traditional careers for women. The program provides a leadership opportunity for girls to express themselves creatively and influence their peers through filmmaking, game design and web design. Taught at Hollins University, Her Ideas in Motion is a champion for media arts and technology careers for women.

Research shows that women face persistent barriers in the technical and media arts industry where less than 25% of the behind-the-scenes roles in media arts careers are held by women. Barriers such as the lack of access to influential mentors, role models, and curriculum during adolence have contributed to the gender gap.

Her Ideas in Motion gives girls a creative forum to develop their ideas into original games, films and websites while providing mentorship to girls in technology and media arts careers.
