Sidebars_aboutproj
My project is an iPhone app that brings balance to people's view of the world by providing a news feed of positive news; good things that are happening in the world. I believe that learning about the good things people do and the wonderful things happening can inspire each of us to do good things in our lives and our communities. I also believe that cynicism and a feeling of futility are products of our modern media culture's drive for viewership and not a true representation of reality. These emotions stifle creative solution making, and they are some of the things I would like to combat with my little app.

The icon for my App.
1timeline
The app opens to the timeline, where you can see the most recent news stories. At the end of an article, you can go to the source, or share via twitter, facebook, or email.
2map
Alternately, you can navigate by area of news. This shows the map view, where you can swipe and pinch to get the area you want to know about, which you would then tap to access.
Colors2
Here you can see all the colors of the different categories: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and The Pacific.

Finally, here is the info page, where you can learn a little more about why we made this app.
Sidebars_challenge

Our challenge as a class was to create an iPhone app that improved the world through humanitarian design. The question I asked myself was, how can I help alleviate fear in people's lives, so they are more free to see the world and act to help it? My goal was to make something that gives people hope to change their world.

Sidebars_solution

My solution is to create an iPhone app that helps change people's view of the world by showing them a few of the good things currently happening in it. My goal was to create an app that would be interesting to the user, so that they would naturally use it in their daily lives.
