Sidebars_aboutproj
North Korean refugee is an iPhone app that aims to raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in North Korea. The app consists of a short animation (around 10 minutes long) which allows the user to live the life of a fictional North Korean (but based on witness accounts), from starving in their village to being sent to a labor camp and then escaping. The movie aims to pull at emotions and inspire action to help the thousands of people that have already escaped North Korea, but continue to face hardship outside of North Korea. This app aims to educate people about the North Korean situation and to try and bring about change.

Sidebars_challenge

The main challenge of this app is the challenge of having people download the application. Why would people want to download an iPhone app about the humanitarian crisis in North Korea? Which is why the main goal of this application is to educate the users about the humanitarian crisis in North Korea.

Sidebars_solution

The app will educate people about the crisis happening in North Korea. The app will make people realize that this is an ongoing problem that has happened for years and continues to go on, even now. Through education, the people will be empowered with knowledge, and through power and knowledge will hopefully come change.
