This workbook was designed for “non-compliant” or marginal-lifestyle people living with HIV and AIDS, by MCAD's 2007 Graphic Design Print Production class in collaboration with Boston's Partners in Health and PACT. The workbook is part of a pilot program to improve patient adherence. It was so successful that a second edition is being printed in Spanish. Over the course of twelve weeks, twelve students worked to produce this project under the direction of instructor Lisa Rosowsky.

The workbook needed to communicate the critical need for patient adherence in treating the virus, to “non-compliant” or marginal-lifestyle people living with HIV and AIDS.

The team used highly visual, easy-to-understand graphics and relatively little text on the materials. Students became well-versed in the biology of AIDS and the risks of non-compliance in order to explain these issues visually to patients. The workbook is designed to be reviewed and discussed by patients and caseworkers.
