SCRAP is a program that produces a series of improvement comic strips by kids that have been bullied, about stopping fights before they start! SCRAP is a 3 month after school program that will produce one comic strip every two weeks to be published in a real comic. Once a week a guest speaker will talk about their bully problems as a kid and their love for comics. The Monthly Scrap: students will chose their favorite story and that story will me hug on the wall of the school.

Often the kids that we think are bullies are really the ones being bullied, those kids are trying to take their anger out on others who do not accept them. The question becomes, how do we get the kids who are fighting to stop and channel their aggression in a healthier way.

Sidebars_solution

Students will sit around a table and tell their stories about being bullied. Then together they will choose a superhero and make a comic strip about how he/she overcomes being bullied. In order make the story they must use the scraps of comics that hero has been in, creating a new narrative from pieces of exiting ones.
