Sidebars_aboutproj
Our project is focused on improving visual environment, student learning, and making connections on campus. The areas selected need to portray an uplifting and revitalized feel since it is lacking color and interest to the students. We are focusing on an outdoor plaza. It is used by all. A committee of five students a teacher and a local designer have been working on this project. The students, led by Olivia Forsyth, are 2nd yr students and are excited to work hands on. This project has given us a chance to put our skills to work and show how great the Interior Design class at Mountain View can improve student learning and visual appeal.

We focused on one of the plaza areas commonly known as “the Science Plaza”. It has an area of scattered tables where students gather at lunch as well as a walled-in stage area with metal benches. The focus of the project will be the stage area. We will tie in the surrounding plaza area to the theme The Pride is Back.

The “stage” and benches are two years old and seldom used. The students feel this is mostly due to the cold unwelcoming feeling of the space. It is surrounded by concrete walls. Color, hardscape, and places to showcase student work are needed. Murals on walls will focus on Mountain View history and success.
