West Philadelphia High School is reorganizing to become four smaller academies within the high school. A class of West juniors, working with Urban Studies and Graphic Design Practicum undergraduates at University of Pennsylvania, developed brands for each of the four academies. The logos and branding will appear throughout the school and foster a sense of community with each academy.

West Philadelphia High School was built in 1913. It has a long tradition in the community and a strong alumni association. Changing the curriculum into 4 smaller academies is a significant shift for the school, therefore they are developing 4 distinct logos that can work in harmony to represent the school.

After Penn's semester ended, two Practicum students, Chris Arasin and Rashmi Pujari, continued to mentor West HS students and develop the brands. Final concepts were approved by the West students and faculty. When school opens in September, West HS will proudly be branded in banners, uniforms and new signage.
