Sidebars_aboutproj
Seniors in the Visual Advocacy course at Kansas City Art Institute are pursuing individual self-initiated projects to address issues needing social change in our community. Students are required to research local issues and define their own problem -- an unusual situation for most graphic designers. They are also asked to seek input from audience members or non-profits working on the same issue and devise a comprehensive set of communications that seeks to change behavior.

Sidebars_challenge

A major challenge in this project is to make contact with audience members and seek solutions that directly empower them, addressing the root causes of the problem, rather than simply targeting the general public with a typical awareness campaign.

Solutions are currently in-progress and students are having eye-opening experiences in discussions with community members and non-profits.
